Levofloxacin (as hemihydrate)
Indications/Uses
Bacterial blepharitis, dacryocystitis, hordeolum, conjunctivitis, tarsadenitis, keratitis (including corneal ulcer). Aseptic treatment during perioperative period for ocular surgery.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult, adolescent & childn ≥6 yr Instill 1-2 drops tid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or any quinolones.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other quinolones. Discontinue if eyelid redness/swelling, rash, muscle pain, tendinopathy; superinfection occurs. Not for inj or subconjunctival inj or introduction directly into anterior chamber. Overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms w/ prolonged use. Hepatotoxicity or renal toxicity. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Transient decrease in vision, transient ocular burning & pain or discomfort, foreign body sensation, headache, fever, pharyngitis & photophobia.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ theophylline, caffeine, oral anticoagulants, cyclosporine.
